Petition Text
Petition to the Government of Canada
Whereas:
• Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) reported within Canadian airspace may have implications for aviation safety, national security, scientific inquiry, and public confidence;
• The Government of Canada’s Sky Canada Project identified gaps in the collection, analysis, coordination, and public reporting of UAP information and recommended greater transparency, scientific investigation, and public access to UAP data;
• Credible UAP incidents should be appropriately documented and investigated without presuming their origin or nature; and
• Canadians should have reasonable access to government-held UAP information where disclosure would not compromise national security, public safety, personal privacy, intelligence sources or methods, or Canada’s international obligations.
We, the undersigned, residents and citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to: 1. Establish a coordinated federal framework for documenting, analyzing, and investigating UAP incidents involving Canadian airspace; 2. Establish appropriate parliamentary oversight of federal UAP policies, investigations, and information, including mechanisms for reviewing classified information where necessary; 3. Direct federal departments and agencies to review historical and contemporary UAP records for declassification and public release to the greatest extent permitted by law; 4. Establish a centralized, publicly accessible repository for releasable federal UAP records, reports, and findings; and 5. Provide periodic public reporting concerning UAP incidents investigated by the Government of Canada, including findings and explanations where they can responsibly be disclosed.
