Petition Text
Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled
Whereas:
• Rapid socio-technological shifts are creating an unprecedented, immediate fragmentation of shared civic readiness and human development across generations;
• Addressing systemic gaps in regional safety data and localized protection frameworks requires coordinated national leadership and targeted resource allocation;
• Sustainable social cohesion, democratic stability, and human excellence urgently rely on individuals acquiring these foundational civic customs prior to, and independent of, professional training; and
• The classical foundational framework of Paideia—originating at Plato's Academy in Athens circa 450 BCE to unite ethics, governance, and philosophy—finds its ideal modern Canadian stewardship in the combined institutional leadership and educational lineage of the Royal Military College of Canada and Royal Roads University.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to:
1. Formally recognize acculturation as an urgent, distinct pillar of citizen readiness separate from academic or skill-based instruction;
2. Direct the Minister of Canadian Heritage to immediately identify the core cultural customs and philosophical values that foster lasting social harmony; and
3. Establish an expedited Federal Advisory Council, leveraging the foundational leadership expertise of the Royal Military College and Royal Roads University, to launch a voluntary national framework integrating these acculturation customs into federal youth and civic initiatives.
