Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled
Whereas:
• the federal excise tax on gasoline currently adds a flat cost of 10 cents per litre to every fuel purchase made by Canadians;
• this tax, combined with the "hidden" carbon tax (Clean Fuel Regulations) adding approximately 7 cents per litre in 2026, creates an unsustainable financial burden on families across Canada; and
• global supply shocks, such as the March 2026 strike on the Ras Tanura refinery, prove that Canadians need lower domestic taxes to offset international price volatility.
We, the undersigned, Constituents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to 1. Permanently repeal the federal excise tax on gasoline to provide an immediate and lasting 10-cent-per-litre reduction at the pump for all Canadians;
2. Immediately abolish the Clean Fuel Regulations to remove the additional 7-cent "hidden" carbon cost; and
3. Establish a permanent federal oversight body to investigate and prevent regional price gouging in retail gasoline markets across Canada.
