Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled
Whereas:
• "A Million Acts of Love" was established by Victoria, B.C. teenager Felix Townsin to honour his sister Lexi, who passed away from a rare disease called Blau syndrome;
• The campaign encouraged individuals to participate in acts of kindness and community impact, reaching more than one million registered acts by December 16, 2024, what would have been Lexi’s 12th birthday;
• Designating a "A Million Acts of Love" Month is a national call to action that encourages people across Canada to take meaningful action, turning what they care about into positive impact in their communities and beyond;
• The month would invite individuals, families, schools, businesses, community groups and organizations to take action on the issues that matter to them, from poverty, health and inclusion to the environment, animals, education and community connection;
• For youth, the month would also be an opportunity to discover purpose, develop leadership, build confidence and resilience and see that their ideas, interests and actions can make a difference in the world around them; and
• The goal is not only to inspire action during one month, but to help Canadians build lasting habits of service, connection and community impact throughout the year.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to establish November 16 to December 16 as "A Million Acts of Love Month" throughout Canada.
