Petition Text
Petition to the Government of Canada
Whereas:
• 1. Many Canadians are still unable to order Canadian wine, craft beer, and spirits from producers located outside their home province, despite repeated pledges by federal and provincial governments to break down these interprovincial barriers;
• 2. Canadians want the freedom to buy Canadian and to support homegrown wineries, breweries, distilleries, and other producers by purchasing their products directly;
• 3. Removing outdated restrictions on the direct to consumer sale of Canadian wine, craft beer, and spirits would strengthen local economies, boost Canada’s GDP, and reinforce the economic ties that bring provinces and regions closer together;
• 4. Canada Post continues to face significant financial pressures and maintains a nationwide delivery network that can help Canadian producers reach customers across the country; and
• 5. Bill C 262, An Act to Amend the Canada Post Corporation Act, would establish a national application framework allowing Canadians to receive Canadian wine, craft beer, and spirits directly from producers across provincial boundaries through Canada Post and other trusted carriers in a safe and consistent manner.
We, the undersigned, Citizens and Residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to Support and pass Bill C 262, introduced by Mr. Albas, the Member of Parliament for Okanagan Lake West–South Kelowna, so that Canadians may enjoy the freedom to buy Canadian, support our domestic producers, grow our national economy, and strengthen the unity and shared prosperity that bind our country together.
